어설픈 윤군돌아

From an early age, I had liked an almost all kinds of music.
But, when I was in middle school, I had was surprised when I listened to the music of the Beatles.
When I was in high school, I had saved a money and I bought a CD of a metal group.
When my father saw me like this, he asked me, "What do you want to do when you grow up?"
I answered, "I want to do be a DJ of Rock Music"
So, in rage, my father said to me, "You're crazy."

When someone asks to choose my favorite food, I always answer “잡채(jabchae).”
Mostly, 잡채 is not a food found on the main menu.
When this food is ordered in restaurants, it usually comes with side dishes because this food is insignificant on its own.
However, to me, this is a very special dish.
Of course I also like 잡채, but there is actually a more important reason.
From an early age, I really liked eating my mother’s 잡채.
My mother always asked, “My dear youngest son, what would you like to eat? What should I make?”
I always answered, “잡채.”
When I was in my second year of high school, my mother was hospitalized with stomach cancer.
During the summer break of my sophomore year at university, her life in the hospital came to an end.
I still remember what my mother told me before she closed her eyes, “My youngest son, I can’t make 잡채 for you anymore so I’m sorry.
My mother quietly closed her eyes a few hours after she said this and flew toward heaven.
Nowadays, if I want to eat 잡채, I can do so anytime in the market, department store food court, or small eatery.
However, that 잡채 is not the taste I want. What I really want is the taste that comes from my mother's hands.
Perhaps, until I die, it seems I will not be able to experience that taste again.
